July 2018 Annual FanniBC Picnic
ANNUAL PICNIC OF FANNIBC
Dear FanniBC Member, and friends
The annual picnic for FanniBC members and their relatives and friends is planned to be
held at Whyte Cliff Park (7102 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7W 2T3) on Saturday,
July 28th, 2018 from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Please come and join us in this unique gathering to visit your friends, enjoy the beautiful
summertime in Whyte Cliff Park and its facilities. You may want to bring those tennis/
badminton rackets of yours or a ball to play a few games with your friends there. Please
also do not forget those musical instruments of yours, we love to listen to your music!
Sings along is always a favourite. We need lyrics book if you have then handy.

An Iranian Engineer Made Headlines in Science and Technology News, “Mr. Ardeshir AzarBarzin”
March 27, 2006
NASA’s Space Technology 5 successfully was launched on March 22, 2006, at 9:04 a.m. EST,
from Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif., on Pegasus XL rocket. An Iranian Engineer
(Ardeshir AzarBarzin) managed the project and his contribution to space technology would be
remembered in the history of science and technology of the world. Once more he proved the
talent of Iranians.ST5 is testing new micro-spacecraft technologies and operations’ techniques.
The three spacecraft will conduct science validation using measurements of the Earth’s magnetic
field collected by the miniature boom-mounted magnetometers on each. Initial contact with ST5
was made at 9:27 a.m. EST,as the spacecraft passed over the McMurdo Ground Station in Antarctica.
Art Azarbarzin, ST5 project manager at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Md.,
described next week’s planned activities for the spacecraft. “During the first day, we ensure the
three craft are correctly operating. During the next few days, we deploy and test the magnetometer
booms. Finally, we prepare them for the science demonstration and make any necessary orientation
